Aerosmith是七十年代最流行的硬搖滾樂隊(duì)之一，在樂隊(duì)成立后的將近30年中，他們渾濁的重型布魯斯風(fēng)格為重金屬和硬搖滾建立了一種標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。他們當(dāng)初使用的配器風(fēng)格(鋼琴、管弦樂和失真吉他)至今仍是搖滾抒情曲的經(jīng)典套路。Aerosmith在抒情和搖滾兩方面均十分出色的能力使他們在七十年代中期極度流行。

八十年代前期，毒品和酒使樂隊(duì)發(fā)展陷于低潮。但在八十年代后期，樂隊(duì)很快從逆境中走出，并創(chuàng)作出一系列比七十年代成功專輯毫不遜色(或者說超越七十年代)的優(yōu)秀專輯，很快重回榜首，后樂隊(duì)獲得搖滾終身成就獎。作為音樂界的長青樹，至今他們?nèi)圆⒒钴S在演出、唱片和娛樂界的前沿。

1989年的《Pump》更上一層樓，名列第5，售出400萬，一系列單曲'Love in an Elevator'、'Janie's Got a Gun'和'What It Takes'都成了Top10金曲。
