關(guān)于Shannon Wright的故事得先從美國(guó)佛羅里達(dá)州最大的城市——樸實(shí)的杰克遜維爾講起，那里一度成為美國(guó)朋克和獨(dú)立音樂(lè)的圣地，Shannon Wright也正是在那里同兩名家鄉(xiāng)的貝司手及鼓手組成了她的首支樂(lè)隊(duì)Crowsdell。Indie-Pop樂(lè)隊(duì)Crowsdell的處女作《Dreamette》于1995年在Big Cat唱片公司發(fā)行，同在其旗下的還有現(xiàn)在聲名遠(yuǎn)揚(yáng)的Pavement、Giant Sand、Dirty Three等樂(lè)隊(duì)。頗受贊譽(yù)的Crowsdell移居紐約在1997年發(fā)表了第二張專輯《Within the Curve of an Arm》，之后迎來(lái)的就是一段黑暗的時(shí)期，因?yàn)橥�兼并后的唱片公司關(guān)系緊張，他們被打入冷宮，之后不得不宣布解散，Shannon Wright也變賣了她幾乎全部的物品只身隱居在北卡羅萊納州nowheresville一處農(nóng)場(chǎng)的房間里，用從鄰居那里借來(lái)的鋼琴和隨身的吉他開(kāi)始創(chuàng)作。
1999年Shannon Wright的首張個(gè)人專輯《Flight Safety》在家庭式唱片公司Quarterstick和Touch and Go發(fā)行，平實(shí)簡(jiǎn)約的配器下流淌著深深的憂郁。隨后的同Low、Will Oldham、Calexico等樂(lè)隊(duì)的巡演無(wú)疑激發(fā)了Shannon Wright更多的創(chuàng)造力，她又在阿拉巴馬中部隱居起來(lái)構(gòu)建了她的第二張專輯《Maps Of Tacit》，同前張專輯一樣，吉他、貝司、鼓、鋼琴、鍵盤(pán)等樂(lè)器幾乎都是由她一人操辦，絕望和躁郁的迭加令她那不安的靈魂狂野燃燒。
2001年的《Dyed In The Wool》在Andy Baker和Steve Albini共同制作下呈現(xiàn)出更為豐沛和厚實(shí)的情感表達(dá)。The Rachel's、Shipping News、The Glands、The Japancakes等樂(lè)隊(duì)成員的配器也使那種無(wú)望的巴洛克式民謠撕扯出優(yōu)美的張力。Steve Albini，這個(gè)影響歐美一代獨(dú)立搖滾的錄音師，把Shannon Wright2003年的專輯《Over The Sun》調(diào)和得質(zhì)感十足，Christina Files突出的鼓擊和Shannon Wright神經(jīng)質(zhì)的嚎叫摧枯拉朽地?fù)羲榱诉@世界最敏感的情懷。與Sleater-Kinney、Nick Cave等知名音樂(lè)人的同臺(tái)也使得Shannon Wright和 Yann Tiersen在2005年合作出版了《Yann Tiersen & Shannon Wright》，令人驚訝的是，兩人聽(tīng)似迥異的表達(dá)方式卻平衡出無(wú)可抗拒的凄美樂(lè)章。

The onetime frontwoman for the acclaimed indie pop combo Crowsdell, singer/songwriter Shannon Wright was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. A product of the areas thriving all-ages punk scene, she formed Crowsdell with bassist Paul Howell and drummer Laurie Anne Wall, debuting in 1995 with the underground favorite Dreamette and soon after relocating to New York City. However, when relations with label Big Cat soured in the wake of 1997s Within the Curve of an Arm, the group dissolved, and an embittered Wright sold most of her belongings and moved to rural North Carolina, where she began recording a series of deeply personal, folk-inflected songs to four-track. A handful of solo singles followed before she recorded the full-length Flightsafety, issued on Quarterstick in 1999. Maps of Tacit appeared a year later. Wright released the sparse mini-LP Perishable Goods and the typically eclectic Dyed in the Wool in 2001. In 2004 she put out the tempered and emotionally rich Over the Sun, followed by the equally affecting Let in the Light in 2007.
