在商業上初獲成功的個人處子作《The Documentary》發行還不滿兩年的時候，美國西海岸新一代說唱狂人The Game帶來了他的第二張全新個人專輯《Doctor's Advocate》。在發行第一周內，《The Documentary》的單周銷量達到35萬8千張，輕松獲得本周Billboard 200專輯榜的冠軍。雖然這個銷量成績在如今日益蕭條的唱片市場中已經可以算得上是非常突出了，但與The Game去年初發行的《The Documentary》相比還真是相差不少。2005年1月，《The Documentary》在上市首周的銷量曾達到58萬7千張。
去年，《The Documentary》出色的商業成績使得The Game成了當年美國說唱屆表現最為突出的一位新生代的歌手。除了反復拿著自己當年混黑幫，挨槍子的經歷顯擺之外，The Game的成名還得感謝美國Hip-Hop屆一位舉足輕重的人物----Dr.Dre，正是Dr.Dre發現了人生經歷與50 Cent頗為相似的The Game，并將他帶進了美國Hip-Hop圈。今年年初，由于決定了要和以50 Cent為首G-Unit徹底決裂，The Game離開了將他捧紅的Aftermath/G-Unit，轉投到了Geffen Records的門下，打算走自己的路。雖然與50 Cent的矛盾早已經不可調和，但The Game表示他并沒有忘記“恩師”Dr.Dre。早在幾個月前，The Game在談到這張新專輯的時候就說過，這是一張獻給Dr.Dre的唱片。
盡管The Game的這張專輯也不再有Dr.Dre的協助，但是在這張專輯中與他合作的制作陣容與嘉賓陣容都依然堪稱是星光閃耀?？惨�·維斯特（Kanye West），黑眼豆豆（Black Eyed Peas）組合的Will.I.Am，斯科特·斯托奇（Scott Storch）這三位制作高手都在這張專輯的制作人名單當中，而The Game自己也兼職執行制作?？痛�演唱的嘉賓也包括有Snoop Dogg，馬麗·J·布里奇（Mary J.Blige），納斯（Nas），Busta Rhymes，Xzibit和勞倫·希爾（Lauren Hill）等美國當今說唱，R&B樂界的多位一線大腕。此外，制作人Kanye West和Will.I.Am也都在本張專輯中助陣演唱。
細心的歌迷不難發現，這張《Doctor's Advocate》的封面與上張《The Documentary》是非常相似的，除了底色之外，兩張封面最大的不同之處也只有輪胎的個數了。從這張《Doctor's Advocate》的內容上看，可以說也是與《The Documentary》變化不大。雖然在上張專輯中已經大力標榜了他的“傳奇人生”，但本性和50 Cent一樣囂張的The Game這一次仍在樂此不疲的講著他那個白粉與槍眼交織的故事。首支單曲《it's okay (one blood)》是The Game對自己童年的懷念，歌曲中的采樣用的是他兒時非常喜歡的一首雷鬼歌曲，Junior Reid的《One Blood》的片斷。而由Scott Storch制作的《too much》可以算作是這張專輯中稍有新意的單曲之一，類似Disco的節奏是這張專輯少有的亮點之一。
如果剛剛出道的The Game老拿以前在道兒上混的經歷說事是為了配合《The Documentary》的宣傳而做秀的話，那么如今這個已經得到了歌迷和評論界承認的The Game就變得變本加厲，更加口無遮攔了。就在這張專輯正式發行前不久，他在接受媒體采訪時還在一直攻擊著50 Cent，并沒有見他對所謂的“恩師”Dr.Dre有多么的懷念。
在將近10年前，The Notorious B.I.G.與Tupac之間的矛盾引發了一場美國東西海岸說唱界的大戰，那次血淋淋的悲劇事件讓所有人至今仍記憶猶新。而在如今這個商業化日益突出的時代，就連說唱界的所謂“矛盾”與“爭斗”也都已經淪為了各自專輯的賣點，不能不說這是這個時代的一種悲哀。

Compton's own the Game (born Jayceon Taylor) issued his debut LP, The Documentary, in 2004 through Aftermath/G Unit/Universal. With everyone from Dr. Dre and 50 Cent to Nate Dogg, Kanye West, and Just Blaze contributing to the album, The Documentary made it clear from the outset that geographic squabbles weren't a part of the Game's agenda. Rapping hadn't been at first, either. Having gotten involved in the drug trade after a rough childhood, it took being shot during a home invasion to cause an epiphany in the Game. Inspired by N.W.A, The Chronic, Doggystyle, and classic albums from 2Pac, the Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z, the Game began rapping in 2001 and never looked back. His barbed and bold freestyles caught the ear of Dre, who signed him to Aftermath in 2003 and executive produced his debut. It was delayed a few times, but The Documentary finally dropped in January 2005. Soon the Game and 50 Cent were at war over the former's reluctance to beef with any and every enemy of G-Unit. An amazing amount of freestyles and mixtapes were spawned from both sides, and every time a truce seemed possible, things fell apart at the last minute. Dr. Dre was stuck in the middle, and while he never publicly denounced the Game, he passed on working with the rapper for his next effort. Despite Dre's absence, the Game's sophomore release kept its original title of Doctor's Advocate when it was released in late 2006.
